Uganda Resumes Mass Drug Administration Program
After stopping in April 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Carter Center-assisted mass drug administration program for onchocerciasis in Uganda restarted in August, making it one of the first such campaigns in the world to resume.

Trachoma Staffers Make Exam Scopes From Scratch
Trachoma grading in the field is typically conducted in person by a trained grader who examines the patient’s eyelids for trachoma symptoms. When an in-person exam is not possible, remote examination of high-quality magnified photos has been shown to be a possible alternative. A relatively simple magnifying scope attachment system for a smartphone makes taking grading-quality photos easy.

Findings May Help Speed Elimination in Amhara, Ethiopia
The Carter Center and its research partners have deployed alternative monitoring tools to allow deeper study of disease transmission in an effort to understand the epidemiology of trachoma in Amhara and unlock the door to accelerating progress.
