Read the full article on page one »       Trachoma Staffers Make Exam Scopes From Scratch Trachoma grading in the field is typically conducted in person by a trained grader who examines the patient’s eyelids for trachoma symptoms. When an in-person exam is not possible, remote examination of high-quality magnified photos has been shown to be a possible alternative. A relatively simple magnifying scope attachment system for a smartphone makes taking grading-quality photos easy.
