Give the Gift of Health for #GivingTuesday
Dear Good,

By making a #GivingTuesday gift today, you can help change the future for some of the world’s poorest and most forgotten people. These individuals aren’t asking for a handout. They are asking for a hand up, a chance to free themselves from the pain of disease and an ensuing cycle of poverty.

Support like yours has helped The Carter Center pioneer community-based interventions to educate people and help them change their behavior. In addition to leading the world’s output of sight-saving eyelid surgeries and drug distribution for neglected tropical diseases, we train field personnel and thousands of local volunteers to engage the public with preventive practices.

When a farmer in Ethiopia loses his eyesight to a disease like blinding trachoma, his entire family suffers. He can no longer grow crops. His children must leave school to take care of the household. The fragile economy of his village suffers irrevocably.

This is the start of a cycle of poverty that afflicts developing nations. With no funds or access to health care, people in developing nations — people just like you and me, who simply were born into unlucky circumstances — have no hope of fighting disease and achieving a life where education and good health are possible.

Good, you can change this today with a gift to fight disease. Please help free the world’s poorest people from the threat of neglected tropical diseases.
When you take action, you will help end a devastating cycle of disease and poverty.

Your gift will support preventive education and treatment
Providing immediate relief from pain
Keeping children in school and adults at work
Empowering communities to fight disease for the long term

Neglected tropical diseases, such as trachoma, river blindness, Guinea worm, lymphatic filariasis, schistosomiasis, and malaria, are completely preventable. Your gift will support proven, low-cost methods for controlling and eliminating these diseases. You will make it possible for the most at-risk people in the world to be saved from entirely unnecessary pain and poverty.

Thank you for being the caring person this world needs. Together, we can transform this special day of giving into lasting health for years to come.

With gratitude,
