Together with Nigeria's Ministry of Health, The Carter Center and partners are stepping up efforts to eliminate river blindness in the world's most endemic country. Spread by the bites of infected black flies, river blindness can cause unbearable itching, irreversible blindness, and drive families deeper into poverty.
