Dear Good,

This is your last chance to make a tax-deductible gift before the year ends.

Support like yours has helped us save millions of families from disease and bring peace and democracy to regions at great risk from oppression and conflict.

We need your partnership again to lay the groundwork for an even brighter 2019. Please help us usher in the New Year with a gift that brings health and peace to the most neglected people in the world.

When Guatemala changed its identification system, Blanca Nieves Valdés never received a new ID card. Just like that, her identity and small pension vanished – money she depended on to buy medicine. She had nowhere to turn until a Carter Center community liaison stepped in to help.

Generous support like yours will go toward practical and sustainable strategies that embrace cultural diversity and empower young and old alike.

You’ll give voice to the voiceless as you help people help themselves.

Thank you for your generosity on this New Year’s Eve. With your help, we are spreading hope throughout the world.

Sincerely,

President Jimmy Carter

Dear Good,

You still have three more days to make a 2018 tax-deductible contribution that helps bring peace and better health to millions of people.

May I count on you to build hope for the individuals in this world who suffer the most from the devastating effects of disease, poverty, and oppression?

PLEASE MAKE A GIFT
TO WAGE PEACE AND FIGHT DISEASE »

Your kindness will help provide the tools, knowledge, and resources to women and men who desperately want to improve their circumstances. It will help spare children from the pain of parasitic and neglected diseases. And it will help build peace in regions that daily suffer from violent conflict.
A leader in the eradication and elimination of diseases, The Carter Center is fighting six preventable diseases — Guinea worm, river blindness, trachoma, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, and malaria — by using health education and simple, low-cost methods.

These techniques — the use of water filters, medicine, affordable latrines, and bed nets — coupled with community health education and outreach, can pay large dividends in global health, enhancing quality of life, increasing productivity, and strengthening communities.

With a single act of generosity today, you can change lives. You can replace agony and despair with the incomparable feeling of hope.

On behalf of everyone at The Carter Center, Rosalynn and I are truly grateful for your desire to help others. Thank you for caring about the world’s most forgotten people.

Sincerely,

Dear Good,

For five more days, you still can make a tax-deductible contribution to The Carter Center and end the year knowing you have made the world a better place.

Your support will be invested in proven solutions that fight disease, nurture democracy, advance human rights, and alleviate the suffering of millions of children, women, and men across the world.

PLEASE MAKE A GIFT
TO GIVE HOPE TO THOSE IN NEED »
One way your support can help is by providing training, educational materials, and transportation for people like Magdalena Leon (left), a Carter Center information liaison in Guatemala. Magdalena travels to some of Guatemala’s poorest communities, helping women learn how to gain access to information from their government.

Women learn about their families’ rights to education, employment, and a safe environment. This citizen interaction also encourages government transparency and accountability and has been proven to help women shape their futures and rise up from crippling poverty.

With a gift to The Carter Center, you will help improve the circumstances of the world’s most vulnerable people. You will help free them from the threats of disease and war and give them a future where they can know peace and hope. Thank you for making a remarkable difference in their lives.

Sincerely,

President Jimmy Carter

SUPPORT OUR WORK AGAINST DISEASE »
Dear Good,

We share a hope with every person on this earth: the simple wish to enjoy good health.

For millions of the world’s poorest and most powerless people, that often is too much to ask. Instead, they live in fear of what the future may bring, and those already afflicted with neglected diseases struggle each day with terrible pain and stigma.

Were it not for The Carter Center and donors like you, they might continue to suffer the agonies inflicted on them by diseases like Guinea worm, trachoma, river blindness, and others — because the effort to prevent or treat them was too expensive, too difficult, or simply “impossible.”

Your gift will help support disease prevention and treatment efforts such as the simple eyelid surgeries that treat the advanced stage of trachoma. As shown above in Mali, these 20-minute surgeries save eyesight and end the agony of eyelashes scraping corneas.

Your support also will help Carter Center-trained community health volunteers distribute antibiotics, educate people about the importance of hygiene and regular screening, supply filters for drinking water, and so much more.

Our strategies are simple and the tools are low cost, but implementing them on the massive scale required is impossible without your help.

DONATE NOW
END THE TORMENT OF PREVENTABLE DISEASES »
But by making a gift now, Good, you can help us continue to do the impossible every day and relieve untold suffering. You will equip people in need with the tools and knowledge to free themselves from neglected diseases that torment their communities.

Carter Center-trained volunteers and health workers already have treated or saved millions from trachoma infection. And now we are close to ending Guinea worm disease forever — down from 3.5 million cases a year when we began our work in 1986 to only 30 last year.

I know that the last cases will be the hardest to find and contain. But I am confident your support will help us finish the job with the same determination that has brought us to the verge of eliminating river blindness from the Americas. In the same way, your support has enabled our steady progress against other preventable or treatable diseases, including trachoma, schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, and malaria.

And it is not only the agony of illness that you are helping to end. When you make a gift, you are helping adults return to their livelihoods and children return to school. A terrible cycle of poverty finally can be interrupted.

It’s difficult to thank you for your support in any way comparable to the good you have done. All I can say is that your partnership sustains what we do and is the reason the pain and desperation of so many millions have been replaced by hope. So thank you, and I hope you can be generous in helping our work continue.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Carter
