Good, Double Your #GivingTuesday Impact

Can you imagine growing up in a remote village and seeing many of your friends and neighbors slowly going blind, tears running down their faces because of the terrible pain that never goes away?
The Carter Center. Waging Peace. Fighting Disease. Building Hope.
TODAY FOR #GIVINGTUESDAY,
GIVE TWICE AS MUCH EYESIGHT »
Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by the Hilton Foundation.
Dear Good,

Can you imagine growing up in a remote village and seeing many of your friends and neighbors slowly going blind, tears running down their faces because of the terrible pain that never goes away? Even worse, what if you spent your life fearing this would happen to you, too?

This is the awful reality of trachoma, the bacterial infection that is the world’s leading cause of preventable blindness, which now threatens 157 million people. But trachoma is not only preventable, it is also treatable, so a person’s eyesight can often be saved before it is lost.

Today, when you make a #GivingTuesday gift to end blinding trachoma in Mali and Niger, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation will match your gift, doubling its impact. This means you can help twice as many people escape the pain of trachoma and potentially save their sight!
HOW YOUR GIFT WILL HELP
Your gift will go toward a proven strategy, called SAFE.
›› Simple eyelid Surgery

›› Distribution of Antibiotics

›› Education on Facial cleanliness

›› Environmental improvements like latrines
Please make a gift now »
You can bring this remarkably effective strategy to the people of Mali and Niger.
For more than 35 years, The Carter Center has proven that people can improve their own lives when provided with the necessary skills, knowledge, and access to resources. This is why the SAFE strategy is so effective, and how Ghana most recently became completely trachoma free. Now Mali and Niger are ready to defeat this disease. They need your help today.

This is a limited-time match, so please be as generous as possible. Thank you for taking this #GivingTuesday to help the people of Mali and Niger escape blinding trachoma. We look forward to bringing you updates on our progress.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Carter

Good, Everyone Deserves Peace

Can you imagine spending your entire life living on a dirt floor, toiling over meager crops, hoping there will be enough rain through the dry season to sustain your family?
The Carter Center. Waging Peace. Fighting Disease. Building Hope.
DONATE NOW BECAUSE EVERYONE DESERVES PEACE »
Dear Good,

Can you imagine spending your entire life living on a dirt floor, toiling over meager crops, hoping there will be enough rain through the dry season to sustain your family? Moving is not an option as no other place will welcome you, except perhaps with violence.

In these same circumstances, people often are denied the most basic access to their governments and justice systems. In many cases, they don’t even have the right to vote. There are no laws protecting their rights as humans.

But you can change this. By making a gift today, you can empower some of the world’s most vulnerable people with the tools and knowledge to shape their own futures.

With a gift now, you will contribute to peace in more ways than you may imagine. Everything you see here strengthens citizens’ sense of inclusion and their country’s commitment to justice.

It might be a Tunisian woman casting a ballot for the first time …
A Carter Center-trained magistrate assuring even the most rural citizens that the legal system is there for them …
Or, a community justice advisor helping a Liberian street vendor navigate her legal system to escape domestic abuse.

DONATE NOW TO SECURE LASTING PEACE »
In each of these situations and many others, your generosity creates the conditions necessary for peace. By supporting our efforts so generously, you will strengthen every aspect of peace, including fair and honest elections, access to information and the legal system, the fair rule of law, recognition of human rights for everyone, and the education and treatment required to attain good health. You will bring a sense of hope to people in the world who need it most.

Good, when the most marginalized people in the world gain equal rights and a say in their future, our small planet gains hope for lasting peace. Thank you for partnering with The Carter Center in this important work.

Sincerely,

Good, Help Finish Off Guinea Worm

Guinea worm disease has tormented humanity for at least 3,000 years, infecting millions with worms that painfully exit through lesions in the skin.
The Carter Center. Waging Peace. Fighting Disease. Building Hope.
YOU’VE BROUGHT US SO CLOSE.
DONATE NOW TO HELP FINISH THE JOB »
Dear Good,

Guinea worm disease has tormented humanity for at least 3,000 years, infecting millions with worms that painfully exit through lesions in the skin. Can you imagine growing up knowing you faced this kind of ordeal? For the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people, this always has been the case. This terrible disease stopped them from going about daily life, tending to crops, or caring for their children.

But we are now on the brink of making Guinea worm only the second human disease, after smallpox, ever eradicated from our planet and the first without a vaccine!

You did this. When The Carter Center began leading the Guinea worm campaign in 1986 — tracking down every case and contaminated water source and teaching people how to avoid infection — more than 3.5 million people a year were infected. As of September 2019, only 48 cases remain!

THIS IS HOW YOU’RE HELPING FINISH OFF GUINEA WORM
Your generosity today means Carter Center-trained health care volunteers will continue to have the resources to travel to even the most remote villages, teaching how Guinea worm spreads, how to keep away from contaminated water sources, and how to use pipe filters to avoid infection. And it means our staff and community volunteers can locate and track every last case and care for sufferers until Guinea worm is no more.

MAKE YOUR DONATION NOW TO END
THIS SUFFERING FOREVER »
This alone would be cause for celebration. But your generosity is doing even more. That’s because the same type of volunteer networks you help support across thousands of villages in Africa to end Guinea worm also successfully fight other neglected tropical diseases. These ailments plague our brothers and sisters who have the least resources in the world to overcome them, and the debilitating symptoms can keep them in poverty and ostracized by their communities.

No one deserves to suffer like this. So, thank you for helping. Please be as generous as you can to help end Guinea worm disease forever and eliminate many other diseases that plague the poorest of the poor.

Sincerely,
