Give Hope for #GivingTuesday. Help End Blinding Trachoma.
Dear Good,

By making a #GivingTuesday gift today, you can help bring hope into the lives of some of the world’s poorest and most forgotten people — saving them from the darkness and despair of blinding trachoma.

Trachoma is the world's leading cause of infectious blindness. It is a bacterial disease and causes terrible, ongoing pain, stigma, and disability, reinforcing cycles of poverty and hindering long-term development. Of the 190 million people at risk for trachoma, most are children, and women are almost twice as likely as men to develop the advanced stage of it that causes blindness.

With support from donors like you, we have eliminated blinding trachoma in Ghana, and now we are working on this same goal in Mali and Niger.

For a limited time, The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation will double all gifts, up to a total of $5.1 million, that support the elimination of blinding trachoma in Mali and Niger. So please act today.

With this special match, your $25 becomes $50, $50 becomes $100, $100 becomes $200, and so on. Doubling your gift means TWICE the impact!
Using the proven, low-cost SAFE strategy — Surgery, Antibiotics, Facial cleanliness, and Environmental improvement — we can put an end to the excruciating pain and loss of vision caused by trachoma.

Your matched gift will mean:

Support like yours helps The Carter Center pioneer community-based interventions to educate people and help them adopt healthy behaviors. In addition to leading the world in sight-saving eyelid surgeries and drug distribution for neglected tropical diseases (including trachoma), we train field personnel and thousands of local volunteers how to encourage preventive practices.

Please make a gift today. Help put proven strategies into action in Mali and Niger. Your generosity will help build new networks of health personnel and volunteers in areas where previously there were no services and no hope. Don’t miss this special opportunity to save people from blindness and change their lives forever.

With sincere gratitude,

Jimmy Carter
Co-Founder and Trustee
The Carter Center

P.S. Your #GivingTuesday gift will have an even bigger impact than you think. The trachoma health education and interventions we bring to villages in Mali and Niger will help prevent several other neglected tropical diseases at the same time.

Good, help save women, save the world

Violence against women is the most serious, pervasive, and ignored violation of basic human rights around the world.

WHEN YOU HELP END THE ABUSE OF WOMEN AND GIRLS,
YOU GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO BUILD PEACE IN THE WORLD.
Dear Good,

Violence against women is the most serious, pervasive, and ignored violation of basic human rights around the world. With the support of generous donors like you, The Carter Center has begun to tackle this important issue and has made significant progress establishing in-person and online networks of faith leaders, activists, and political leaders — people armed with culturally appropriate and immediately actionable solutions for ending the abuses against women and girls.

But right now, I want you to know about an even farther-reaching motive for supporting this work. The reason I am asking for your help today is that these same women whom we are fighting for are also the world’s greatest untapped resource for preventing violent conflict and promoting peace.

“When you give women rights, especially rights to an education, and you educate a girl, you educate the whole society.”

Ruth Mumbi’s access to education in Nairobi, Kenya, was the springboard to her lifelong commitment to ending human rights violations.

ADVANCE THE RIGHTS OF WOMEN AND GIRLS »

For every woman you help save from the abuses of genital mutilation, child marriage, and human trafficking, you give the world a new chance for peace. You can help women rise to challenge the notions that war, violence and subjugation are “normal” practices. With new opportunities for equal treatment and education, girls can — and do — grow up to be peacemakers and promoters of human rights.

Please, Good, will you give a gift now to lift women up to the equal status they deserve? I believe women are the linchpin to achieving peace in the world, and you are the person they need to change their circumstances and participate fully in society.

Thank you for helping to promote equal opportunities and end the needless suffering of women and girls. Your gift now can help make the world better for everyone, everywhere.

Sincerely,

Jimmy Carter
